Willow's Favorite Grilled Cheese

PREP TIME: 5 minutes
SERVES: 1
TOTAL COOKING TIME: 5 minutes
INGREDIENTS
  • 2 slices 1/2" - thick oatmeal bread
  • 2 tbsp mayonaise
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 oz. American cheese, thinly sliced
  • Ground black pepper
DIRECTIONS
  • Place bread on a cutting board and spread mayonnaise over top side of each.
  • Heat a small non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  • Slide in 1/2 tbsp of butter. When it melts, place slices of bread, mayonnaise side down, in skillet; top with cheese; season with pepper.
  • Cook bread until golden brown (roughly 1-2 minutes). Close and flip sandwich; add remaining butter to skillet. Press down on sandwich to encourage even browning and to help melt cheese.
  • Cook until second side is golden brown and cheese is melted. Serve and eat immediately.
